Ok, so Thanksgiving was a while ago and I meant to post a little something. I learned a valuable lesson over the holiday, a lesson I am sure some of you have learned in the past…
Do not press the format option on your camera unless you have already downloaded those pictures to your computer!
You are probably thinking to yourself, Um Duh! I managed to erase all of the pictures I took of our delicious Thanksgiving dinner, the cookies I made for the Cookie Swap and our Christmas Tree adventure.
So yes, I learned that the hard way but because the internet seems to know how to fix all of my mistakes I was able to recover the photos. So, huge shout out to the internet for which the post would not have been possible and I would have been a sad pepper.
I am not sharing any recipes in this post but don’t you worry, you will get to check out the cookie recipe that I used for the Food Blogger Cookie Swap in a couple of days. I wanted to use this post just to share with you a glimpse of my family Thanksgiving, only a glimpse really. It is probably the best holiday for foodies because it’s all about eating food all day long and it is usually food that only your mother/grandmother/father can make. My Dad is always in charge of the turkey and it is always a work of art. My mom knows that she must have cornbread dressing on the table and she cannot ever alter the recipe! These are the family food rules and they were written long before I even knew how to hold a fork.
The one tradition we DID change this year was how we got the Christmas tree. This year I suggested that we go and chop down our own tree, I was absolutely insistent on it! It turned out to be a great experience but probably made better by the fact that my brother is strong and muscular and did all of the heavy lifting. My main contribution was being extremely particular about which tree we selected of course. In the end we picked a beauty!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and stay tuned for some yummy dishes.
