Honey BBQ Chix Wings

I hope everyone enjoyed the Super Bowl this year. I can probably guess that if you weren’t rooting for the Seahawks then you probably found it to be a terrible game. It certainly was not the most exciting game I have ever seen. I am a big fan of those nail biting games when it goes back and forth; the games where it comes down to the final minutes or seconds.

Spice Rub

I did think that the halftime show was really good, Bruno Mars was an excellent choice and he is pretty to look at which never hurts. I also thought that the commercials were good but nothing stood out that I can see myself discussing around the water cooler (are those still a thing?). I really loved the Budweiser commercial with the puppy. The Cheerio commercial was also a fave since I think that little girl is pretty much an exact replica of what I was like as child, same hair and everything. She’s a cutie!

Uncooked Chicken Wings

I am what I would consider a pretty big football fan but not one that spends a lot of time following all the teams in the league. I obviously pay attention to all things Steelers and then from there I’ll try to stay abreast of what is going on in the league.

Glazed Wings

I am not going to lie, I really love football for the food. I get pretty excited putting together football watching snacks and drinks. I have no shame when it comes time to load up a plate with all the staples like chips, dip, wings, cheese and more cheese. It’s probably a good thing that the Super Bowl is a one day/once a year thing or I may need to observe some restraint.

For this year I knew I was going to make wings because I love wings and I cannot imagine any football game without them. I like to bake my wings in the oven so I can at least say that I made an attempt to eat healthy football snacks, that is until I lathered them in sweet delicious bbq sauce (Yum!).

These wings were exactly what I wanted, sweet and spicy in all the right ways. I did cut some corners and used a store bought sauce to which I added some extra spices and such. Don’t be afraid to amp up the heat if you really want to see more SPICE than sweet. I think when you are entertaining you don’t know how spicy people like things so I tend to play it safe and make things spicy but not so much so that you might need to spend the rest of the night chugging milk and applying ice. These were a sweet sticky mess but I loved them!
